Little Noticed Words from SOTU

Of the few thousand words from tonight's State of the Union address, these will definitely NOT be the most repeated. Still, they made sense to me:

"When a student walks into a classroom, it should be a place of high expectations, and high performance."

  3. Okay, serious comment now.
We whached parts of the SOTU address in Balle's class, and we saw this part. It was pretty inspiring. Ill be honest, i never whach anything political, including these speeches of his, but from what i whached in Balles class, he seems like he is pretty good at speaking. I liked what he had to say.

  4. I think the key word in that quote is SHOULD. A teacher should come to class expecting great things from their students, but how often do teachers just write off a student because of how they look or what their last name is. I can personally say that it has happened to me before.
This has even spilled over in the world for teenagers. Today's society expects very little from them. Back in the day, teenagers were expected to make contributions to society. Today, not so much. If a teens stays in school and doesnt do drugs or end up pregnant, then they have succeeded. Is this from continuing to drop our expectations through out the many years that have passed? Why do teens think that its OK to sit at home and play video games and not get a job? Why is it that the majority of teens do not hold jobs, while its the minority that does? I believe its because our society has lowered the expectations. If one can get away with sitting all day playing video games, then why go above and beyond if they are content with their life? I believe that the teens need to be pushed more and need to have the expectations raised. I hope that with time, it can be done.
